What would social networking do for Live Aid today?

25 years ago this week, Live Aid was broadcast to over 2 billion people in over 60 countries and raised $280 million for Ethiopian hunger relief.
And all this was done without Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, or any part of the internet. So what’s changed between then and now? Has social media made us more caring towards the suffering of others, or just more aware?
