What would social networking do for Live Aid today?

July 15, 2010 by Marc Gordon divider image

25 years ago this week, Live Aid was broadcast to over 2 billion people in over 60 countries and raised $280 million for Ethiopian hunger relief.

And all this was done without Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, or any part of the internet.  So what’s changed between then and now?  Has social media made us more caring towards the suffering of others, or just more aware?

Of course, I encourage your comments.

I do not think Led Zeppelin played at Live Aid. Like watching your MarcTV. Keep it up.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the comment. Led Zeppelin did on fact play at Live Aid, with Phil Collins on drums.

I don’t remember which group wasn’t there but I’m commenting anyway. Can’t believe Live Aid was 25 years ago. Then I see pix of Sting and Elton John and say “oh yeah”. GREAT video! Your comment

Totally cool – how great to remember it all! I invited a big group to watch the concert at my place and we had a blast!

The band that didn’t perform was Culture Club.
